Accessibility Statement

Maccabi strives to ensure its services are fully accessible and inclusive

About 20% of Israel's population (more than 1.6 million people) is coping with disabilities of varying degrees, including: limited mobility; visual/reading, hearing, or cognitive impairments; and weakened functional abilities, either permanently or temporarily. Individuals with disabilities may broadly require accommodations, including on websites.
Maccabi Healthcare Services places significant importance on the accessibility of its services and buildings to best serve individuals with disabilities. This is reflected in
Maccabi's vision, which states that Maccabi "will provide integrative and personalized medicine to all members".
At Maccabi, all aspects related to service sites’ accessibility are thoroughly examined, including medical centers, laboratories, institutes, and various information centers.

Service Stations

for accessing personal information

Personal self-service stations, situated nationwide in and outside of Maccabi facilities, enable individuals to access personal information (both medical and administrative). All service stations are accessible, with adjustable heights for wheelchair users. Additionally, they feature headphone sockets for individuals who are blind or have visual impairments and prefer voice instructions.
Instructions at the service stations are provided in four languages: Hebrew, Russian, French, and Arabic, while the information is provided in Hebrew.

Are other Maccabi service stations accessible?

  • Maccabi has queuing management stations called "Tor Li," which are currently undergoing an accessibility upgrade. Maccabi intends to complete the upgrades for all queue management stations by the end of 2024.
  • Maccabi has physiotherapy stations with accommodations for mobility disabilities and that offer services in 5 languages.

Is the Maccabi Nonstop Call Center accessible?

Maccabi Healthcare Services' Nonstop Call Center is available and accessible to all members, including individuals with disabilities.
The voice answering service is available 24/7, allowing you to schedule appointments for various Maccabi services and providing information on Maccabi member rights, details of medical centers nationwide, and consultations with nurses. The voice response speaks simply, slowly, and clearly, without background music.
The information center and the nurses' call center are operational year-round and at all hours. The appointment center operates Sunday to Thursday at all hours, until 1:00 p.m. on Fridays, and resumes activity one hour after the end of Shabbat on Saturdays.

What does accessibility on Maccabi Healthcare Services' websites entail?

Maccabi Healthcare Services puts significant effort into ensuring its websites are accessible to people with disabilities. To facilitate comfortable and easy browsing for people with disabilities, an accessibility system called User1st was implemented. This system customizes the websites’ presentation to meet users' needs.
To access the site with accommodations for visual impairments, users need to install reading software on their computers.
The website features an "Accessibility" button located in the upper right corner. Clicking it activates the accommodations. You can select from several options tailored to your needs:

  • Screen reader - configures the website for easier reading via screen reader software, aiding users with visual impairments.
  • Keyboard navigation - enables simple navigation via keyboard input or keyboard simulators, benefiting those with mobility limitations.
  • Color sharpness - inverts colors for color-blind individuals and others with visual impairments.
  • Monochrome - displays the site in black and white to improve visibility for color-blind individuals and others with visual impairments.
  • Flash blocking - prevents flashing components for individuals prone to epilepsy and other disabilities.
  • Contact - The “Contact” button at the top of the screen opens an information and support portal for administrative assistance. Among other features, it helps locate forms, provides guidance on various topics, and allows for online inquiry submissions. Individuals experiencing difficulty with online form completion can contact "Maccabi Nonstop" for personalized assistance.
  • Help - This option displays additional information about each component.

Users can also create a personalized profile to tailor their browsing experience, adjusting text size, color schemes, flashing and alternating component speed, and other settings according to their needs.

Maccabi Website (without login)

The Maccabi Healthcare Services website meets the international Level 2 AA standard set by W3C, and is compatible with standard web browsers.

Some of the site’s accessibility features were programmed into its coding, though some site pages have yet to be made fully accessible. You can use still access accessibility features on these pages by clicking the "Accessibility" button located at the top right corner.
Maccabi brochures: various publications distributed to policyholders in an electronic format that simulates the experience of reading from a printed brochure. Though these currently have limited accessibility features, Maccabi is working to make them accessible by the end of 2024.
The pages are:
Maccabiton, Maccabi's Code of Ethics, Preventing Falls Among Older Adults.

Archives with inaccessible files:

The Maccabi website features a section dedicated to tenders and procurement, including a historical archive of all related publications released by Maccabi over the years. Due to the section’s complexity and size, Maccabi cannot provide access to all files attached to the dated publications. Aside from the prior attachments, the section itself is fully accessible, including all attachments to newer publications.
Pages where certain included files are inaccessible include: the tender archive, search pages for tenders and price quote requests, and notifications of intent to contract with a single supplier.

Currently inaccessible files:

Various files on the Maccabi website are currently inaccessible for several reasons, but will be accessible following the new website’s completion towards the end of 2024.
These files are:

Training program for conducting medical research on humans - Ten tips for better sleep.

Additionally, Maccabi is working to make these dated files accessible:

Maccabi intends that various website files and forms will be made accessible by the end of 2024.
Upon entering a username and password, the website enables users to schedule appointments with doctors, access test results, and more. The "Requests from Doctors" page allows users to send written inquiries on various topics to their family doctor. Passwords can be obtained from Maccabi branches at no charge.
The informational website for Maccabi members provides guidance on using the fully accessible Maccabi Online platform.

Service directory

The Maccabi Healthcare Services Service Directory website centralizes information about Maccabi service providers’ locations, operating hours, contact details, and offered services. The website meets W3C's Level 2 AA standard.
In the service directory, you'll find two indicators:

Mobility accommodations, meaning: disabled parking, an accessible pathway from the parking lot to the entrance, a standard elevator, and accessible bathroom.

Please call to verify, meaning: the site isn’t fully accessible for mobility limitations, so please call for further details pertaining to specific needs.
On the informational website, Maccabi members can find instructions for scheduling appointments via the service directory. This resource is free to use and fully accessible.

Maccabi App

The Maccabi mobile app has been modified to meet Level 2 (AA) accessibility standards in accordance with the W3C guidelines. The current app version has been approved by the Commission for Equal Rights of Persons with Disabilities.
Several services in the application are not yet adapted for accessibility, but may be adjusted depending on the accessibility capabilities of your device's operating system.

  • The app enables text enlargement up to 130%.
  • The calendar, based on the mobile device's operating system, is not accessible on a small number of devices.
  • On a few screens, manual scrolling up is required as automatic scrolling up is not activated upon reaching the bottom of the screen
  • PDF documents displayed in the personal area (such as references and authorizations) from 2021 onwards will be made accessible as required by regulations.
  • Given that the home screen (bubbles) is not accessible, all services can instead be accessed through the app’s fully accessible main menu.

Upon entering a username and password, the website enables users to schedule appointments with doctors, access test results, send requests to family doctors and gynecologists, request authorizations (Form 17), and more.
In the fully accessible guidance section for digital services, you'll find explanations and instructions for using services on both the app and Maccabi Online. website.
